Union Budget consolidates progress made in last 10 years: R Ashoka

Bengaluru, July 23 (IANS): Senior BJP leader and Leader of the Opposition in Karnataka Assembly, R. Ashoka, said on Tuesday that the Union Budget 2024 consolidates the progress made in the last 10 years under the Modi government.

“The first budget of Modi 3.0 is an excellent and outstanding budget which will help in moving towards making a prosperous and self-reliant ‘Viksit Bharat’. Inspired by PM Modi's vision of Inclusive and fast-paced development, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has presented a comprehensive budget which will accelerate both economic growth and further welfare of citizens,” Ashoka stated.

This Budget is unique in many ways and by clearly outlining the NDA Government’s nine key priorities for all-round and inclusive development, it has successfully elevated India’s growth trajectory. This Budget will go a long way in making India a five trillion dollar economy by 2027, he opined.

This budget will boost demand, create new opportunities for youth and propel India’s economy onto the global stage. "I thank the Prime Minister and Finance Minister for giving India a monumental push to India’s economic and social development," stated Ashoka.

Why are you using taxpayers' money for your expenses? You should use your salary for all your expenditures. Give up government-provided housing, food, fuel, medical care, and vehicles. Wouldn't it be a nice start for you to contribute to nation-building?

The budget is no doubt consolidation of the progress made in the last 10 years. First step was to go digital and reduce cash transactions. Put a limit on cash withdrawal and also limit procession of cash and go online. The last strong hit is to "remove indexation altogether" and show that long term capital gains tax has been reduced from 20 to 12.5%. Let us say, an individual inherits a property that was passed on from his grandfather who had originally bought the property for paltry Rs. 900 per cent. Today that property is valued at say Rs. 4L per cent. Then the long term capital gains tax "in the absence of indexation" is 12.5% of Rs. 3.991L which is about Rs. 50000 per cent of property. If indexation was there, there would not have been any capital gain and the LTCG would have been ZERO. And that is consolidation on the progress made in last 10 years? Who will be impacted? The same middle class which will save Rs. 17.5k per year. Both Center and state will gain now because real estate transaction frequency will increase after this change. Center will get its 12.5% cut and state will get 7% cut at the highest guidance value per transaction. Is this not akin to giving peanuts in one hand while the other hand is busy groping in your back pocket?

My road in Mangalore is worst that what I seen in 2014. Few concrete roads are broken several times and they are worst than any mud road. Low cost tiles are broken. Progress is Joke

What your state got from this budget?. Your seats are more than congress seats won in karnataka to make Modi PM. Because of Congress government in karnataka that's why no fund to karnataka.
