Mangaluru, Jul 24: Karavali Konkans will commemorate the death anniversary of the legendary Konkan Kalashree Claud D'Souza with a special tribute show on August 15. The event, titled ‘Hazar Salaam Tuka - Amar Claud D'Souza’, will feature performances of his classic compositions by singers who had the privilege of performing with him in the past.
The tribute show will be led by Pappan Joswin, who will direct the orchestra. The event will also include dance performances by Show Snatchers, comedy by Dolla, and compering by Leslie Rego.
During the occasion, Claud D'Souza's songbook, ‘Kalashree Podam Siri’, along with a pen-drive containing songs from all his volumes, will be released. This release has been highly anticipated by his fans and music lovers. Karavali Konkans has offered unique promotions for this release, with advance booking available for just Rs 350 (the actual cost is Rs 150 for the book and Rs 300 for the pen-drive). The D'Souza family is the main sponsor of the event, with Errol Samuel sponsoring the printing cost of the book. Entry to the show is free, but attendees are requested to occupy their seats before 5:45 pm. Once the auditorium reaches capacity, the doors will be closed. The tribute show will commence promptly at 6:00 pm.
Claud D'Souza: A legacy in Konkani art and music
Claud D'Souza, who passed away on July 24, 2023, at the age of 67, was a revered Konkani singer, composer, dramatist, writer, actor, and musician. He dedicated his life to promoting Konkani art and music and was honoured by many reputed organizations both in India and abroad. He was a recipient of the prestigious Sandesha Award.
Claud D'Souza is survived by his wife, Marie D'Souza; his daughters, Moushmi (Praveen) and Melissa (Abijith); and his grandchildren, Sinon, Sion, Samaira, and Zidane. He is also survived by his siblings, Laura, Jossy, Molly, and Vivina.
