Udupi, Jul 25: Two incidents of reckless driving by private express bus drivers were reported on National Highway-66 on July 23.
Prakash Salian, sub-inspector of Udupi traffic police station, along with his team, was conducting a vehicle inspection near the Car Care Service Center in Kinnimulki, Ambalpady village. During the inspection, Ashrith, the driver of a bus bearing registration number KA-20-AB-4244, was found driving recklessly, posing a significant danger to public safety. A case has been registered at Udupi traffic police station under crime number 85/2024, section 281 of the IPC.
In a separate incident on the same morning, Shekar, sub-inspector of Udupi traffic police station, was overseeing a vehicle inspection near the Karavali Kanchana Hyundai showroom in Puttur village. During this operation, Rajath, the driver of a bus bearing registration number KA-20-D-729, was observed driving recklessly, endangering the lives of those on the road. A case has been registered at Udupi traffic police station under crime number 86/2024, section 281 of the IPC.
Both buses have been seized by the Udupi traffic police.
