Bengaluru, Jul 25: Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil has dubbed the opposition BJP’s overnight dharna as ‘nothing but political drama to impress Delhi bosses’.
Speaking in the State Legislative Council on Thursday, he said the government and the Chairman have explained why their adjournment motion on the alleged MUDA and Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation scams not be taken up for discussion.
“The opposition has misused the legislature forum to further their political agenda,” he said.
Patil said the State Government has already formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and has even constituted a judicial commission headed by a retired High Court judge even though the opposition has been levelling allegation against the Chief Minister.
When BJP was ruling the State, he said the State Contractors Association had directly sent complaint on the 40% Commission scam to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and had urged the Basavaraj Bommai government for conducting inquiry and the BJP regime deliberately refused to accept the Congress demand and Prime Minister had ignored the complaint.
Instead of appreciating the Congress government for instituting a judicial probe, the opposition BJP has resorted to overnight dharna in the State Legislature to get political mileage.
There were several burning issues awaiting debate in the Legislature including the recent rain havoc in Uttara Kannada and other districts and also the bills against the Modi regime’s proposals for “one nation, one election” and also against NEET examination in favour of establishing a separate CET in the State.
But the BJP has deliberately avoided any discussion on the problems of the people and has resorted to political drama like staging overnight dharna, he added.
