Mangaluru, Jul 25: The Department of Library and Information Science, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Deralakatte, Mangaluru has started admission for the Master of Library and Information Science (M.Lib.I.Sc.) program for those aspiring to work in libraries, documentation, and information centers.

The M.Lib.I.Sc program is a two-year Postgraduate Degree program with Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) consisting of four semesters with a student-centric skill-oriented curriculum focussing on theoretical and modern applications for employability. Emphasis is given to hands-on training in specialized physical as well as modern digital libraries in library automation, Digital libraries and digital content, emerging web-based technologies in libraries, Communication, and technical writing skills.

Candidates who have passed a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University with 50% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply for the M.Lib.I.Sc program.

Graduates with an M.Lib.I.Sc degree can find employment opportunities both as teaching faculty in Universities offering the Library & Information Science (LIS) program and as Librarian/Information Manager/Information Scientist/Knowledge Manager in academic libraries in schools, colleges, universities, medical, engineering, and other professional colleges. They can also be employed in R&D centers, industry and business houses, training centers of banks, National museums, and archives.
