Kaup, Jul 26: A minor girl in Kaup has filed a complaint against her husband and parents at the Kaup police station. The girl was married off and subsequently gave birth to a baby.

Chandini Katoon, originally from Bihar, is the complainant and victim. She has filed the complaint against her husband, Intiyaz Devan, her father, Mohammed Tayyab Rayin, and her mother, Julekha Khatoon.

According to the complaint, Chandini was married to Intiyaz when she was just 16 years old in June 2022. She lived in her husband’s house and gave birth to a baby girl on April 4, 2023. Later, Intiyaz and Chandini moved to Udyavar and lived in a rented house. Chandini became pregnant again. On July 13, 2024, she developed abdominal pain and was admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru. The hospital staff discovered that she had been married as a minor.

Consequently, a case has been filed against her husband and parents under the POCSO Act at the Kaup police station.
