Kundapur, Jul 26: The house belonging to Mannunje Ganapaiah Udupa in Siddapura village completely collapsed on the night of July 24 due to high-velocity winds. The loss is estimated to be Rs 10 lac.

This house was 160 years old. Nine people, including 85-year-old Ganapaiah, his wife Jayalaxmi, their children, and grandchildren, lived in the house. However, due to heavy winds, Ganapaiah and his entire family had been staying in his son's nearby house for some days, so no injuries or fatalities occurred.

A huge stock of arecanut stored inside the collapsed house was completely destroyed. Additionally, valuable ancestral items, pooja vessels, daily use items, and groceries are buried under the rubble. The cattle shed was also damaged.
