Rainfall impact leads to power outages in Chikkamagaluru; public pays for mobile charging

Daijiworld Media Network – Chikkamagaluru (MS)

Chikkamagaluru, Jul 27: The Malnad region is currently grappling with severe rain, which has severely disrupted daily life. Heavy rains and high-velocity winds have led to hill collapses and flooding, making the area largely inaccessible. Hundreds of electricity poles and wires have been uprooted by the strong winds.

For the past three to four days, Malnad has experienced a complete power outage. With electricity down, mobile phones—crucial for communication—are left without a means to recharge.

A shop near Haandi is utilising a generator to provide mobile charging services. The shop has become a vital resource for locals, particularly college students. As reported, the cost of a full mobile charge is Rs 60, while a half charge costs Rs 40.
