Bantwal, Jul 27: A burglary occurred in the Moodunadugodu village, within the jurisdiction of Bantwal rural police station, where thieves broke into a temple and stole gold and cash worth lacs of rupees.
The incident took place at the Durgaparameshwari Temple in the Moodunadugodu village of Karenki. Thieves stole a gold necklace weighing approximately 2.5 sovereigns, valued at around Rs 1,40,000, as well as Rs 2,000 in cash from a donation box inside the temple premises. The total estimated value of the stolen items is Rs 1,42,000.
The burglars entered the temple by breaking the back door and proceeded to the sanctum sanctorum, where they stole the gold necklace adorning the deity and the cash from the donation box.
A case has been registered at the Bantwal rural police station. Inspector Shivakumar and SI Harish visited the scene and conducted an investigation.
