Karkala: Gas cylinder explosion causes fire; woman injured, apartments damaged

Karkala, Jul 28: A gas cylinder placed outside a residential complex in Pulkeri in Karkala accidentally caught fire and exploded, resulting in injuries to a woman and significant damage to other apartments in the complex.

The gas cylinder, placed outside the residence caught fire around 10:30 PM on Saturday night.

The explosion of the gas cylinder caused flames to spread to the apartments on the fourth floor, making it difficult for the residents to evacuate. The fire engulfed household items in the apartments, and the entire complex was filled with smoke.

The incident shattered the windowpanes and broke the doors of the apartments in the complex. The building sustained partial damage.

The firefighting operation was led by fire station officer Albert Monis, along with team members Achyut Karkera, Suresh Kumar, Jayamoolya, Nityanand and Ravichandra.

They throw the empty cylinder into their carrier making Dents on the cylinder Body.No Checking inside cylinder pressure Vaulves.you can remove the Seal easily without Breaking it.No weight Scale Along with cylinder delivery time.Now a days UJALA cylinders also distributed to General customers by dealers......Disgusting.

    third world country...third class quality of cylinders...the gas agencies should be sent to Dubai to see how gas cylinders are maintained and handled..

    Very mysterious; possibly there was gas leakage through the piping; which got ignited by an electric spark and led to the explosion!
