Kundapur, Jul 28: A sports meet was held on the morning of July 28 under the aegis of Kalakshethra Kundapura Trust as part of Vishwa Kundapra Kannada Dinacharane at the Board High School grounds.

MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi inaugurated the sports meet, praising Kalakshethra's efforts to nurture the Kundapra Kannada language.

MP Kota Srinivas Poojary flagged off the event by playing marbles. Rajeeva Kotian hoisted the flag. MLA Kiran Kodgi engaged in a game with a bicycle tire, and Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna also participated.

B Kishore Kumar, president of Kalakshethra, delivered the introductory speech, noting that sports meets are often organized along religious and caste lines, but this is the first one based on language.

Tahsildar Shobhalaxmi, youth and sports department officer Kusumakar Shetty, local college principal Ramakrishna BG, vice principal Kiran Hegde, Udaya Kumar Shetty, Sanath Kumar Rai of Geetha Gayana organization, physical education teachers Pradeep Kumar Shetty, Raghavendra Kundar Brahmavara, Ramesh Kundar, and Kalakshethra office bearers were present.

Rajesh Kaveri delivered the vote of thanks, and journalist Chandrashekhar Beejari compered the event.
