Mangaluru: Fishing season opens Aug 1 – Weather conditions may delay boats

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Aug 1: Despite the annual 61-day fishing ban for mechanized boats ending on July 31, it is uncertain whether boats will venture into the sea on August 1 due to the inclement weather.

According to the IMD, a red alert has been declared until the morning of August 1. High-velocity winds are expected, causing waves to rise to heights that might endanger fishing boats.

Fishermen are ready to begin a new fishing season. Boats, engines, and fishing nets have been repaired and are ready for use. Ice plants have started operating, and boats that venture into the deep sea are stocked with groceries and other supplies for 15 days.

Many labourers working on fishing boats are from out-of-state and have returned to the fishing ports in Mangaluru and Udupi.

All the fishermen should have a good catch. I am wishing the fishermen a good luck for fishing and the consumers will be getting fish at a cheaper pricing.
