Byndoor, Aug 1: Continuous rains for the past 3-4 days in Byndoor and the ongoing downpour in the Kollur Ghat area have caused the Souparnika River to overflow, leaving the regions of Navunda, Badakere, Chikkalli, Padukone, and Maravante submerged, severely disrupting daily life.
Due to the submersion of connecting roads, residents of Navunda have had to resort to using boats to procure essential household items and connect to the main road, traversing several kilometers through water.
To draw the attention of authorities, the flood situation was captured using drones.
Even when the floodwaters seemed to recede a few days ago, heavy rain and wind caused the water to surge back into homes overnight, creating chaos.
Flooding is an inevitable issue here. During the monsoon season, over a hundred homes in the area face persistent troubles. Residents often cannot leave their homes for four to five days at a stretch, requiring boats even for basic necessities like salt, groceries, and vegetables.
Local residents expressed their frustration, stating that while representatives visit during the monsoon flood season, they never return to check on the situation afterward.
