Sachin Misses Ton but India on Course

Nov 9(Cricketnext.com) 11:30 a.m. The runs have dried up after Tendulkar's departure. Yuvraj and Laxman blocking more and attacking less. But with just 26 needed now, we can say that the last rites have begun.

11 a.m. Tendulkar misses it again! Out for 76. Misreads the length of a Bishoo delivery and was struck in front playing a sweep. Tucker took his time to raise the finger, but eventually did to trigger a pin-drop silence in the ground. Audience have settled deep into their seats now. India, though, on course for a win, just 43 away.

The little master was dismissed by Bishoo, 24 runs short of his 100th international century.

10:45 a.m. Fifty partnership! The Windies look deflated now! Sachin and Laxman seem to have sealed it in India's favour now at 216/3 now. Sachin still the cynosure, needing 35 to reach the landmark!

10:35 a.m. The focus at the ground is clearly Sachin's 100. India's win a distant second at the moment. But Laxman is making it a weebit difficult for the master, hitting more fours that ones and twos. India need 68, Sachin 41!

10:16 a.m. 62nd Test fifty for the Little Master! Tendulkar gets to the landmark in 111 balls, and India on its way to a win. But will it be a day we say Sachin's 100th ton as well? India 190/3.

9:50 a.m. Out! Dravid's stumps are flying all over as he misses the line of an Edwards delivery. West Indies have got what they wanted early on Wednesday, and Dravid is a real big fish. Sachin meanwhile is on his way to complete his half century.

9.36 a.m.: India off to a bright start on the fourth day. Eight runs came form the first over by virtue of two boundaries, one off leg byes and the second from Sachin's blade. Sammy drifted down the leg side and Sachin helped it to the fine leg boundary.

9 a.m.: Surely this is going to be the last day of the first Test with India just needing 124 runs to win the match with eight wickets in hand. Whole of the India will hope that Sachin gets the remaining 67 runs on Wednesday to become the first man in the history of cricket to score hundred international tons. He is on 33 at the moment. Rahul Dravid is accompanying him in the middle.

Day 3 round-up

Two of the stalwarts of Indian cricket - Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid - were at the crease when stumps were drawn with India firmly placed at 152/2.

Sachin (33) and Dravid (30) put together an unbroken 57-run partnership after a quickfire 55 from Virender Sehwag laid the foundation to chase the 276-run target set by the West Indies.

After a six-for (6/72) for Pragyan Ojha in the first innings, R Ashwin too joined the party by doing the same, 6/47, in West Indies' second essay that got over at 180.

India are on the cusp of taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series as they are just 124 runs away from beating the West Indies at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground here on Wednesday. And after reaching another milestone of 15,000 runs in Test cricket, Sachin requires 67 more to reach the century of centuries.
