Daijiworld Media Network – Sullia (MS)

Sullia, Aug 5: The repair of the railway track at the landslide site near Donihagal, between the Edakumeri and Kadagaravalli stretch on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru route, is nearly complete. A successful trial run of an engine was conducted on Sunday.

The construction of a retaining wall at the landslide site was completed on Saturday. Track relaying work is almost finished, and other final repairs are being carried out at a rapid pace. Rocks are being piled from the base, and iron nets are used for wall construction. Work on an additional phase of rock piling is currently in progress.

Goods trains were allowed to move on a trial run basis on Sunday as the track repair work reached completion. Currently, a speed limit of 15 km/h is enforced at the repair site, though this has not been officially confirmed by the railway department. Railway officials are hopeful that passenger trains will be allowed within a day or two.
