Karkala: 38-year-old killed in scooter-tempo collision

Udupi, Aug 6: A scooter and tempo collided in Miyar, Karkala, late at night on August 5, resulting in the death of Kashinath (38), who was riding the scooter.

Kashinath, a resident of Miyar, owned a salon in Halekatte, Kalya. He was heading home after closing his shop when the accident occurred. As he was riding his scooter, an ambulance passed in front of him. Following the ambulance, Kashinath attempted to turn onto the road leading to his home, situated on the road to Nallur Basadi.

A speeding tempo collided with Kashinath’s scooter. He sustained severe injuries and was taken to Karkala Government Hospital. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, he was then shifted to Manipal Hospital. Despite efforts, Kashinath succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.

Originally from Halekatte, Kashinath had settled in Miyar four years ago. He was unmarried and actively involved in social work, serving as the president of Chaitanya Mitra Mandali of Kalya, Halekatte.

He is survived by his mother and two brothers.
