Mangaluru: 13-yr-old girl from Belagavi found dead in Jokatte house; murder suspected

Mangaluru, Aug 6: A 13-year-old girl from Belagavi was found dead with a cloth around her neck in a rental house in Jokatte, where she had been staying for the past four days for treatment of a hand injury. Prima facie, murder is suspected.

On the morning of Tuesday, August 6, after everyone had left for work around 10:30 am, the girl's mother called a neighbour and asked them to give the phone to the girl. When the neighbour went to the rental house, they found the girl with a cloth tied around her neck, appearing to have been murdered.

The neighbour immediately informed the girl's mother, who then called Hanumanth, the girl's uncle, and told him to go to the rental house. Upon arrival, Hanumanth found the girl dead and then informed the police.



A case has been registered at Panambur police station under Crime No. 87/2024, Section 103 BNS. The investigation is ongoing.

Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) Dinesh Kumar, officers from the North Sub-Division, and Panambur police officials visited the scene and have initiated an investigation.

Hanumanth, a native of Belagavi, has been residing in the rental house in Jokatte. The girl's mother had sent her to stay with him for treatment.
