Belagavi, Aug 8: In a heartwarming event in Yamagarn village, Nipani taluk, villagers celebrated the return of a black dog named Maharaja, who had gone missing a few days earlier. The dog, which had been lost during a pilgrimage in Pandharpur, Maharashtra, managed to find its way back home, covering approximately 250 kilometres to reach its village in Belagavi, Karnataka.
Maharaja had accompanied his owner, Kamalesh Kumbhar, on an annual 'Wari Padayatra' to Pandharpur in late June. During the pilgrimage, Maharaja got lost in the crowd after they had darshan of Lord Vitthal. Despite extensive searching, Kumbhar was unable to find the dog and returned home on July 14, assuming it had joined another group.
To his surprise, Maharaja appeared at his doorstep the very next day, looking healthy and well-fed. The villagers celebrated the dog's miraculous return, believing that Lord Panduranga had guided it back.
The event was marked by joy and gratitude, as the villagers adorned Maharaja with a flower garland and rejoiced in the dog's incredible journey home.
