Udupi, Aug 11: In a shocking incident on Saturday, August 10, Ronson Everest D’Souza, a cluster manager at a private electronics showroom near Udupi City Bus Stand, was attacked by a security guard following a disagreement over work performance.

According to reports, Ronson (36), a resident of Santhekatte, Udupi, was involved in a dispute with Melvin, a security guard at the showroom. On August 8, Praveen, another employee at the showroom, instructed Melvin to perform his duties properly. This upset Melvin, who declared he would quit and obstruct the work of other security guards.

The next day, August 9, only one of the two security guards, Prasad, reported for duty but left by midday. The manager of Eagle Eye Security Company, Kashinath, was informed of the situation and assured that Prasad would be reprimanded and sent back to work. On August 10, Prasad returned to work and requested to meet Ronson at the showroom around 5:30 pm.

Ronson arrived at the showroom around 6:15 pm. Ten minutes later, Prasad approached him, asking not to be removed from his job. Ronson assured him that the matter would be discussed in a meeting with officials on August 11. This response reportedly enraged Prasad, who then began verbally abusing Ronson.

As Ronson was leaving the showroom around 7:30 pm, Prasad intercepted him on the ground floor where the security guards usually sit. Pretending to be on the phone, Prasad suddenly attacked Ronson, stabbing him in the neck and chest with a knife. He also kicked him to the ground, threatened him, and then fled the scene.

A case has been registered at the Udupi Town Police Station, and the authorities are currently investigating the incident.

Most security guards are laymen knowing nothing about security; security agency licencees (eligibility is ex defence service officers) recruit these unemployed chaps at peanut salaries without providing any other facilities making them work long hours, and keep big cuts as their commission; mostly these poor security guards are a frustrated lot 😕😔!!

The security guard acted like a thug; such security guards should not be employed anywhere, and they should be severely punished because he came with the intention of harming the shop owner by carrying a knife.
