Mangaluru, Aug 12: The Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS) held its 22nd Konkani Dance Competition at Don Bosco Hall on Sunday, August 11. The event began with a prayer and the KNS anthem, followed by a welcome from Liston D'Souza, KNS vice-president, to the chief guest, judges, participants, and audience.
The competition was inaugurated with a lamp-lighting ceremony featuring KNS vice-president Liston D'Souza, general secretary Floyd D'Mello, assistant secretary Cletus Lobo, treasurer Gerald Concessao, competition convenors Pamela Santos and Shanthi Dias, president Dr Rocky D'Cunha, chief guest Santhosh Sequeira Kankanady, and the competition judges.
Dr Rocky D'Cunha, KNS president, delivered an encouraging message to the competitors. Chief guest Santhosh Sequeira Kankanady, a philanthropist and supporter of KNS, also addressed the gathering.
A total of 40 entries across four categories showcased the talents of 65 participants from various age groups: Below 10 years, 10 to 15 years, and Above 15 years. The categories included solo, duet, and married couple performances.
The event received strong support from KNS managing committee members and unit members from the Milagres, Jeppu, and Gurpur units.
Esteemed judges Sonal Caren D'Souza from Cordel and Jessica Misquith from Derebail evaluated the performances. Sunil Menezes, former KNS vice-president, handled the score computation, while Shanthi Dias announced the results. Pamela Santos concluded the event with a vote of thanks, and Nigel Pereira from Milagres compered the programme.

10 to 15 Years Duet:
- First Place: Loyd Lobo & Alicia Angel D'Souza, Kelarai / Bajjodi
- Second Place: Eva Lisa Lobo & Aurel Serrao, Bejai
- Third Place: Sherleen Jessica Pinto & Ashel Riya Mascarenhas, Cordel
Above 15 Years Duet:
- First Place: Arvin Chris D'Cunha & Lizele Ornita D'Souza, Cordel
- Second Place: Anusha Pinto & Rishal D'Souza, Bejai / Permannur
- Third Place: Elvin D'Sa & Joshni Fernandes, Shirthady
Married Couples:
- Consolation Prize: Melcome Joseline Lobo & Shanthi Priya Lasrado, Vamanjoor
