Mangaluru: St Agnes College inaugurates anti-ragging week

Mangaluru, Aug 12: St Agnes College (Autonomous), inaugurated the anti-ragging week on Monday, August 12. The aniti-ragging week, is being held from August 12 to 18. The programme is being held by Anti-ragging Cell.

Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal, addressed the students, mentioning that college is their second home and ragging is prohibited in the campus of St Agnes College. She sensitised the participants to think about the students besieged by ragging which hurts the individual sentiments. "All juniors and seniors need to be respected and loved to grow into dignified human beings. All need to be treated with love and harmony, freedom should be encouraged on campus and enhance the fruitful study provided by the college," she said. 

The event began with a prayer. The dignitaries inaugurated the week by lighting the lamp. The presence of the esteemed guests, including Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal; Sr Roopa AC, vice-principal; Sr Dr Vinora AC, the PG co-ordinator and Shubharekha, dean, administration and Anti-ragging Cell co-ordinator, the faculty members, PG & UG student presidents and the students added significance to the occasion.

A weeklong awareness activities will be conducted from August 12 to 18 by the Anti-ragging Cell and various competitions will be organized. A street play was performed by the students on ragging and provided a beautiful message on being united against ragging.
