Udupi, Aug 13: The Udupi Block Congress has submitted a petition to the Deputy Commissioner Dr K Vidya Kumari demanding immediate repairs to the severely deteriorated roads in the city and rural areas of Udupi.

The roads in and around Udupi, which is recognised for its cultural, religious, and educational significance, as well as being a major fishing port and tourism hub, are in poor condition and are causing significant inconvenience to the public. Many roads, including those leading from Malpe fishing port to Udupi, are filled with potholes, making travel difficult.

With upcoming festivals like Krishna Janmashtami and Ganesh Chaturthi, where idols will need to be immersed, it is crucial to address these road conditions promptly. The petition requests that the DC ensures that these potholes are filled and that the roads are made suitable for travel.

The petition was presented by Udupi Block Congress president Ramesh Kanchan, along with Ganesh Nergi, Satish Kumar Manchi, Sharath Shetty, Satish Kodavoor, Shashiraj Kunder, Anand Poojari, Meenakshi Madhav, Krishna Hebbar, Jyothi Hebbar, Mamatha Shetty, Sandhya Tilakaraj, Satish Putran, Hammed, Surendra Acharya, Sadanand Muliya, Archana Devadiga, Asha Chandrashekar, and Hassan Ajjarakadu.
