Mangaluru, Aug 14: Bharath Mundodi, chairman of Guarantee implementation for Dakshina Kannada (DK) district, stated that 90% of the people who applied for Guarantee schemes in the district are receiving benefits. He assured that the remaining 10%, who are facing technical issues, will also receive the benefits soon. "We are committed to ensuring that people from every district receive the benefits of our Guarantee schemes," he said.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, August 14, at the zilla panchayat, Netravati Hall, Mangaluru, Bharath Mundodi highlighted the progress made under the leadership of chief minister Siddaramaiah and deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar. "We made five promises to the public and have implemented all of them within just six months. We are committed to ensuring that all these schemes reach the beneficiaries. A 21-member committee has been established in every district to address why some people are not availing themselves of these schemes. So far, 90% of applicants have received benefits, and we will investigate why the remaining 10% have not."
He further added, "Under the Gruha Laxmi Yojana, 3,66,766 people in our district have benefited until June, and more than 5,00,000 people have benefited under the Gruha Jyothi Yojana, with 98.21% of applicants receiving benefits. Under the Yuva Nidhi Yojana, 3,035 students have received benefits, and some applications are still in the verification process. Over Rs one crore have been disbursed so far. Under the Shakti Yojana, women in the district have travelled over 5 crore kilometres, and the government has sanctioned funds to the KSRTC. The Anna Bhagya Yojana provides 5 kg of rice and additional funds equivalent to 5 kg of rice."
When questioned about reports that some people have not received funds from the Gruha Laxmi scheme, Bharath Mundodi explained, "Some individuals have not received the benefits of the Guarantee schemes because they have GST registration or IT returns under their name. When we request an NOC from the IT department, it is sometimes not issued. So far, 5,721 people are listed under IT, and 3,521 under GST. Of these, 671 have received NOC and will have no problems in the future."
Addressing the issue of fewer applications under the Yuva Nidhi scheme, Mundodi said, "Although we were appointed before the elections, we only recently received the zilla panchayat CEOs as our secretaries. Some individuals who have found jobs have rejected the scheme themselves. In some cases, students who completed their studies six years ago or studied in different states are applying. In Dakshina Kannada, many are more interested in pursuing master's degrees than applying for the Yuva Nidhi scheme, and we will look into these issues."
