Ram Lalla sculptor Arun Yogiraj, family members denied US visa

Mysuru, Aug 14 (IANS): The U.S. Consulate in Chennai has denied visa to well-known sculptor Arun Yogiraj from Karnataka's Mysuru. Yogiraj gained widespread attention and applause for sculpting Ram Lalla idol for the newly-constructed Rama Mandir in Ayodhya.

It has been learned that Yogiraj's family members were also denied visa.

Yogiraj had applied for a visa to travel to the US to participate in a felicitation programme organised by the Akka Foundation and also to attend various other programmes at different locations.

He had planned a 20-day trip to the US.

The US Embassy officials, however, did not provide any specific reason for the visa refusal. They just submitted that Yogiraj had not fulfilled the necessary formalities.

Speaking to the media, Yogiraj said that he was invited to the convention organised by the Akka Foundation in the US as the Chief Guest.

"I had submitted the invitation card and other documents as required. Our family traveled to Chennai to obtain the visa as per the appointment fixed there. The authorities at the US Consulate asked some questions and later informed us that the visa was denied to me and my family," he said.

"They asked general questions and indicated that I had not met their requirements. I never imagined that obtaining a visa to visit the US would be so difficult. My children were excited because I had promised to take them along on this trip. They were disappointed, and I had to console them by promising another trip.

"I will not apply for the visa again this year... I will consider it next year. Had I received the visa, I would have had the opportunity to experience the art and architecture of the US and meet many artists. Personally, I am not too disappointed by this development," he concluded.

After the idol sculpted by him was placed in the sanctum sanctorum of the newly-built Ram temple, the Karnataka-based sculptor had said that he considers himself the "luckiest person" on Earth.

"I feel I am the luckiest person on the Earth now. The blessing of my ancestors, my family members and Lord Rama has always been with me. Sometimes I feel like I am in a dream world," he had said.

Yogiraj, one of the most sought-after sculptors in the country, comes from a family with a rich legacy of the craft as his father and grandfather were also renowned sculptors.

After completing his MBA, Yogiraj worked in a private company for a while but wanted to follow his ancestors' legacy.

Since 2008, he has been creating statues and gaining nationwide recognition.

I have applied for a visit visa to USA some eight times and I found their dealings at the Consulate are very correct. When your motives are clear and the documents are in order, there is no difficulty as long as you fulfill all the criteria. There should be a proper sponsor for the visit and no motive to seek any employment there (as a visitor), they sanction the 6-month visitor visa valid for as long as 10 years in many cases. Don't blame their government for your mistakes.for a

Politics and religion have become intertwined, blinding human consciousness and causing us to lose sight of our basic humanity. We're witnessing how religions are falling short in addressing human needs. It's time to turn towards science and the scientific spirit, which, through technology and innovation, has provided real solutions to human challenges in recent years. The same technology and scentific advancement has been used by political and religious miscreants to create an atmosphere of war and hatred towards fellow humans.

Many Americans are jealous, as India has become a Superpower in all respects including Financial. Now it is a fight between Kamala ( Harris) and Usha (Vance) for the top.The RedIndians are the real ethnic Americans, all others including Trump and Biden are foreigners.

What you said in 100% correct. The same includes to most countries like Aus, NZ and so on. But would you dare to say the same for Indians, where people from the south mostly Dravidians are of Indians and the north are migrants including the PM. And North Indians are ruling India more than the south and that is how it works worldwide.

The sculptors invited to construct Swaminarayan temple created a lot of stink for Kindian sponsors and wanted to stay back. The ICE was involved in the case. Probably that played a negative role in this case also.

What’s new in that. That’s the common practice for all type of US visas. There is more than 30% rejection rate for US visiting visa and more than 50% rejection rate for work visas.

He is one of the best artists of India and he was invited by the associations of USA. Also, nothing wrong in visiting western countries as a tourist. I don't think US rejected his visa because of religious issues, normally they don't invite such persons even for the interview. Maybe he has not answered the questions properly or he would have told them about his close relatives living USA.

Did I denied Arun Yogiraj an artist?! USA has their own visa regulations and they are doing as per their immigration rules. There are about 7,25,000 Indian illegal immigrants in the U.S.A. Why they overstaying without legal VISAS. Most of these have gone on Visit Visa and skipped and overstayed for the goodness of the USA and utilize it. Ache Din in USA.
