Boman Irani celebrates Independence Day with Mumbai Police


Mumbai, Aug 15 (IANS): On the occasion of 78th Independence Day, senior actor Boman Irani on Thursday hoisted the tricolor at his residence, and shared a heartwarming video with the Mumbai police officials, who were invited for the flag hoisting ceremony.

Taking to Instagram, Boman, who has 1.2 million followers, shared a Reel video, in which we can see him wearing a white plain kurta pajama, and paired it with a brown coloured Nehru jacket. The look was rounded off with brown formal shoes.

He is seen unfurling the tricolor and saluting the Indian flag. We can see many Mumbai police officials present on the occasion, and the 'Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.' fame actor is happily posing with them for the cameras.

The post is captioned as: "Honored to celebrate the spirit of freedom on this special day with the proud colors of our nation soaring high. It was a truly wonderful experience to have the police department join us in hoisting the flag, reminding us of the strength, unity, and resilience that make our country incredible. Proud to be part of such a remarkable nation. #IndependenceDay".

Fans took to the comment section and wrote: "Navroz Mubarak...Happy Independence Day". Another user said: "How lovely", while a fan commented: "Jai Hind".

The 64-year-old is one of the most popular character actors in Hindi cinema, who has featured in over 100 films. Irani had trained under acting coach Hansraj Siddhia from 1981 to 1983, and was later mentored by actor Alyque Padamsee.

He is best known for his role as Dr Jagdish Asthana in the 2003 satirical comedy film 'Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.' written and directed by Rajkumar Hirani in his directorial debut and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra under the banner Vinod Chopra Films. It featured Sunil Dutt, Sanjay Dutt, Gracy Singh, Jimmy Sheirgill, and Arshad Warsi.

Boman has been a part of hit movies like 'Main Hoon Na', 'Lakshya', 'Veer-Zaara', 'Page 3', 'Bluffmaster', 'No Entry', 'Khosla Ka Ghosla'.

He has also featured in 'Don-The Chase Begins Again', 'Heyy Babyy', 'Kismat Konnection', 'Dostana', '3 Idiots', 'Housefull', 'Cocktail', 'Jolly LLB', '83', 'Uunchai', and 'Jayeshbhai Jordaar'.

The actor was last seen in comedy drama 'Dunki' directed by Rajkumar Hirani, under Rajkumar Hirani Films, along with Jio Studios and Red Chillies Entertainment. It stars Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, and Vicky Kaushal.
