Mangalore, Aug 15: The Independence Day celebration at SCS Preschool was marked with patriotic fervour and a strong emphasis on environmental consciousness on August 14.

The festivities included a vibrant cultural program performed by the preschool students, who captivated the audience with their enthusiastic portrayal of the theme, 'Marching Towards a Greener India'. Their performances underscored the institution's commitment to promoting environmental awareness from a young age.

A standout feature of the celebration was a compelling skit performed by students that highlighted the life and contributions of Salumarada Thimakka, a renowned environmentalist. The performance served as a poignant reminder of the urgent need to preserve the natural environment.

Principal Vinaya D'Souza welcomed the gathering and led the assembly in taking the 'Green Oath', a pledge to contribute towards a sustainable future. This was followed by U K Khalid, administrative officer SCS Group of Institutions, delivering a thought-provoking Independence Day message, which resonated with the audience and emphasized the importance of unity and environmental stewardship.

Notable attendees included Dr Kabbinale Balakrishna Bharadwaj, principal SCS First Grade College, Dr Rajaram, principal SCS Pre University College, Helen Lobo, principal SCS Riverside Academy who graced the occasion with their presence.
