Britney Spears ex- husband Sam Asghari speaks about her upcoming biopic

Mumbai, Aug 15 (IANS): Pop icon Britney Spears’ former husband Sam Asghari wants the makers of the upcoming movie based on Britney’s memoir to exercise caution.

A video shared by Entertainment Tonight shows Sam hoping that the makers of the film seek all the approval from his former wife, and do justice to her story.

Sam told ET at the premiere of his latest project, ‘Jackpot!’, “I just hope that they have her approval and everything, and they do justice by her legacy, because it’s a really strong one”.

Britney and Sam Asghari tied the nuptial knot in June 2022 after six years of dating. Their relationship began in 2016 and unfolded alongside Britney’s campaign to be released from a conservatorship that limited her personal and professional decision-making power.

The two made it Instagram official in 2017. Other posts saw them dancing or frolicking together on the beach.

Asghari is an actor and personal trainer, and was thrust into the spotlight through his relationship with the pop icon seven months after a California judge’s ruling ended the conservatorship.

They held a wedding ceremony on June 9, 2022 at their home in Thousand Oaks, California that was attended by the likes of Madonna, Selena Gomez, Paris Hilton and Drew Barrymore. It featured several outfit changes for Ms Spears and a reception playlist that included her song ‘Toxic’.

However, after 14 months of marriage, Britney and Sam, filed for divorce as per Los Angeles court records.

Sam submitted a divorce filing to Los Angeles Superior Court citing irreconcilable differences. The same day, Britney posted on Instagram that she was “buying a horse soon”.

Rumours spread that the singer-songwriter and Asghari were getting into frequent screaming matches and that Britney would sometimes get physical with Sam.

Sam had alleged that Britney cheated on him.
