Sullia: Mud excavation completed – Mangaluru-Bengaluru train services resume

Daijiworld Media Network – Sullia (MS)

Sullia, Aug 20: Train services between Mangaluru and Bengaluru, which were cancelled due to a hill collapse between the Sakleshpur and Ballupete stretch, have resumed as of Monday.

The work of clearing the mud from the tracks was completed on Monday, with officials confirming that the tracks have been realigned. All train services that were cancelled on August 17, as noted in Bulletin No. 3, have now resumed. Trains will run as scheduled in the future, with a speed limit in place at the site of the landslide.

Train services were initially cancelled on August 16 when mud from the hill collapsed onto the tracks. Although efforts to clear the tracks began immediately, ongoing mudslides hampered the operation. The mud has now been successfully removed from the tracks.

I find they should have elevated the whole train track a bit so that next rain might not disturb the path.It should have done first time itself instead of only hiding in mud.

Still looking scary.... Excavation looks like violating safe slope parameters... lets hope soil mass stands intact during train movement....

Prakash Manipal you are right. They put only put back the mud from tracks ?I am sure they will have to start the work from beginning when once rains.Instead of making more fit with some stones or jally etc our old method of only putting mud finish roads.Who controls ?

It's only a temporary solution. Major work yet to be done like; reinforcement of retaining concrete wall to ensure or avoid any future hazards! 🙏
