Kundapur, Aug 21: Two persons have been arrested in connection with an attempted house robbery that occurred in the Kota Police Station jurisdiction.
The incident took place in one Kavitha's house, located near the Manuru bus stop in Manuru village in Kota of the taluk. A group of around 6-8 unidentified individuals arrived in Swift and Innova cars, jumped over the house gate, illegally entered the premises, and attempted unsuccessfully to open the house door. After damaging the gate, the group fled the scene in their vehicles. A case was registered at the Kota police station regarding the incident.
Under the leadership of Divakar P M, CPI Brahmavar, and with the involvement of Kota Station PSI Gurunath B Hadimani, Sudha Prabhu, and Hiriyadka station PSI Manjunath, three separate teams were formed to track down the accused. The teams conducted searches in various locations, including Bengaluru, Maharashtra, and the local area.
The accused, identified as Santosh Nayak (45), a resident of Chikkamagaluru currently residing in Mumbai, and Devaraj Sundar Mendan (46), a resident of Polipu Kapu currently residing in Mumbai, were apprehended and presented before the court, after which they were remanded to judicial custody.
The Innova car used in the crime has been seized, and efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining accused. Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested individuals had traveled from Maharashtra with the intent of carrying out a fake I-T raid as a pretext to rob the house. It is suspected that local accomplices were also involved in the crime.
The investigation is in progress to apprehend the other suspects involved.
