Udupi: Assault accused who went into hiding 32 yrs ago arrested

Udupi, Aug 21: The Manipal police have apprehended and produced in court an accused who had been in hiding for 32 years.

In 1992, a case was registered by Shivaram at the Manipal police station against 12 individuals for assault. The prime accused in the case, Ganesh Prabhu (54), a resident of Badagabettu, Manipal, Udupi, had evaded court appearances since 2001 and had gone into hiding. As a result, an LPC (Long Pending Case) warrant was issued against him.

A team led by Manipal police sub-inspector Raghavendra C and H C Prasanna Uppoor conducted an extensive search operation and finally located Ganesh Prabhu in Bengaluru, where he was residing. On August 21, 2024, he was taken into custody and presented before the judge with the warrant.
