Beltangady, Aug 22: The police are yet to uncover any clues regarding the murder of S P Balakrishna Badekkilaya (83), a retired headmaster and resident of SPB Compound in Belalu.
The murder is suspected to have occurred between 4:30 and 5:00 pm on August 20. Balakrishna was alone at home at the time, and no valuables were stolen. Police investigations revealed that the finger ring on the deceased’s body was still intact, suggesting that the motive might be related to old enmity rather than robbery.
The Beltangady and Dharmasthala police are actively investigating the case. A formal complaint was filed by Suresh Bhat, the younger son of the deceased, on the night of August 20.
There is some public suspicion surrounding the younger son, who was reportedly in Puttur for work when the incident occurred. The murder was discovered upon his return in the evening. SP Yatish N inspected the crime scene, and IGP Amit Singh also visited the house to gather information from the family and police.
SP Yathish has instructed the investigation to be conducted from various angles. Multiple teams have been formed under the leadership of Bantwal Sub-Division DySP Vijaya Prasad, Beltangady CI Nagesh Kadri, and officers from Dharmasthala.
