Udupi, Aug 23: The proposed construction of the Kanchinadka toll plaza has been temporarily put on hold by PWD minister Satish Jarkiholi, who issued the order himself on August 23.

In the order, Jarkiholi directed that the status quo be maintained regarding the Kanchinadka toll gate construction to ensure smooth traffic movement.

On August 22, Congress leaders, led by KPCC campaign committee president Vinay Kumar Sorake, met with minister Jarkiholi and requested the cancellation of the proposed toll plaza at Kanchinadka due to significant public opposition in the area.

In his order, minister Jarkiholi stated, "As this matter is sensitive and involves public interest, the task order given to the concerned organization is temporarily suspended pending a further meeting and final decision regarding the toll collection center proposed in the Kanchinadka area. Necessary action has been suggested to ensure the continuation of traffic in the Kanchinadka area."
