Udupi, Nov 15: Dinesh Poojary of Mapady, who had turned blind five years ago and all lost hopes of leading a normal life, has suddenly found a ray of hope, a flicker of light. On October 13, 2011 Daijiworld carried his story as an appeal to readers. Suvarna Brahmavar, Daijiworld correspondent in Brahmavar initiated the appeal after personally verifying the dire needs of Dinesh and his family.
As always, for a real cause Daijiworld readers contributed in various ways. A sum of Rs 2 lac has been received at the bank account. Moreover, a few contributors visited Dinesh Poojary's house and donated household items, and at least three Samaritans have pledged their support to the education of his three children. There are a few others too who have offered to support him in the coming days.
All donors including those who wished to support his children's education, have requested their contributions to remain anonymous, without seeking any publicity. Hence their names are withheld.
Dinesh Poojary has expressed his gratitude for helping him tide over the hard times.
"I was pleasantly surprised when so many people called from India and abroad to console me and support my cause. Never thought such kind of help would pour in all of a sudden" Dinesh told Daijiworld.
"I have no worries of my blindness, I feel like I am seeing the world in humanity. I am relieved from worries of my children's future, specially education, and I think I can live peacefully hereafter," says Dinesh.
We at Daijiworld salute all those who reached out to Dinesh Poojary in every possible way.
Looking at the bank statement, one thing that clearly reflected, and which encourages us to reach out to the needy even more, is that the contributors are from every walk of life, beyond barriers of religion, language or region.
May God bless us all.
