Udupi, Jun 11: When it is a minor ailment like a fever, people often dismiss it as a routine part of the body's functioning. But when illness strikes in a severe form, it can devastate not only the patient but also their entire family.
Reshma Veronica Rebario (46), a resident of Shivalli, Udupi, is currently facing such a crisis. A mother of two, Reshma never imagined she would fall victim to a rare and life-threatening illness—metastatic carcinoma of the stomach, a form of cancer. When doctors delivered the diagnosis, Reshma and her family were shattered, feeling as though they had been thrust into darkness.
Despite the emotional blow, they did not give up. They have been tirelessly visiting hospitals in search of hope and treatment. Following a series of medical tests, doctors confirmed that Reshma requires specialized treatment, estimated to cost around Rs 25 lac.
Her husband, Ancil, a daily wage labourer, is the sole breadwinner of the family. He works tirelessly just to cover their daily expenses, and now bears the added burden of his wife's medical costs.
Reshma's family now humbly appeals to kind-hearted individuals, charitable organizations, and compassionate donors for support. Any assistance—no matter how small—will make a significant difference in Reshma’s fight for life and her children’s future.
