Kundapur: Fancy store gutted in accidental fire

Kundapur, Aug 24: A fancy store located at the Navunda Junction Plaza Grow Complex in Byndoor taluk, owned by Pratima Acharya, was gutted in an accidental fire on Friday.

Pratibha Vijendra Arehole, who operated the store, was engaged in tailoring and selling stationery and clothing items. The shop contained a sewing machine, refrigerator, clothes, books, stationery items, cupboard, fancy items, and around Rs 5,000 in cash.

Pratibha had worked in the shop until 12 noon on Friday before closing it to visit a temple. At around 12:45 pm, staff from neighbouring shops and locals noticed smoke coming from the fancy store and alerted the fire service personnel and police. By the time the fire service personnel arrived and brought the fire under control, the shop was almost completely gutted. The loss is estimated to be Rs three lac.

Byndoor police have registered a case and are investigating further.
