Bantwal, Aug 28: “The Congress party operates like a family, and if leaders and workers in the district work with determination, it is certain that the party will regain power,” said former minister B Ramanath Rai. He emphasized that leaders should engage in principled politics based on the ideals of the Congress party, rather than pursuing personal agendas. Rai urged the newly appointed office bearers to prioritize party organization and to execute their responsibilities with utmost dedication.

He was speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the new office bearers of the Panemangalore and Bantwal Block Congress and NSUI units, held at Sagar Auditorium in Panemangalore.

Rai acknowledged that victory and defeat are part of elections, but stressed the importance of working honestly. He also highlighted that the loyal workers of Dakshina Kannada district are the strength of the Congress party.

Responding to recent statements by the MP regarding municipal events, Rai questioned how Dinesh Bhandary was elected as the president of the municipality with the support of the Muslim League in the past, and whose DNA was in question then.

He further stated that local leaders have been identified and appointed as Block Congress presidents, not to perform superficial work, but to truly recognize their inner strength and potential. He expressed his happiness that both blocks of Bantwal Congress have beautiful offices.

Commenting on the national situation, Rai criticized the BJP for continuously deceiving people and using caste and religion to gain power, while ignoring issues like rising prices.

MLC Manjunath Bhandary, who also spoke at the event, said that the position of Block Congress president is crucial, as these leaders are the lifeblood of the party. He noted that when all the front units of Congress work together harmoniously, it strengthens the Block Congress, which in turn empowers the party workers.

District Congress president Harish Kumar, who presided over the event, remarked that the Congress party’s guarantee schemes have attracted people in the state. He accused the BJP and its ally JDS of being so fearful of losing relevance that they have resorted to targeting popular chief minister Siddaramaiah. Kumar expressed confidence that Congress candidates will win in all upcoming elections.

During the event, Balakrishna R Anchan, the newly elected president of Bantwal Block Congress, and Chandrashekhar Bhandary, the new president of Panemangalore Block Congress, were handed over the party flag as a symbol of authority. Office bearers of the Kisan and Labour units were also sworn in.

Prominent leaders including Padmaraj R Poojary, G A Bava, Vasu Poojary, M S Mohammed, Chandraprakash Shetty, Pius L Rodrigues, B H Khadar, Padmashekhar Jain, Abbas Ali, Mohan Gowda Kalmanja, Padmanabha Rai, Subhashchandra Shetty, Suhan Alva, Jayanti R Poojari, Chittaranjan Shetty, Vilma Moras, Suresh Jora, Baby Kundar, Ibrahim Nawaz, Chandrashekhar Bhandary, Balakrishna Anchan, Sudarshan Jain, and Mohammed Sapwan were present.
