Two more arrested in drug peddling case linked to Karkala rape incident

Karkala, Aug 29: Two more individuals have been arrested in a drug peddling case connected to the Karkala rape incident.

Following the discovery of drug use in the rape case involving a 21-year-old woman, police intensified their investigation into narcotics connections. They had also filed a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against Altaf, one of the accused in the rape case. Another individual, Abhay (23), was previously arrested for NDPS-related activities.

In further investigation, the police have now arrested two more persons: Giriraj Jagadabi (31), originally from Andhra Pradesh, and John Noronha (30), a resident of Shankerpura in Udupi district.

Both suspects were produced in court and have been placed under police custody.
