Mangaluru, Aug 31: A ‘Smart Food Street’ is set to be developed near Mangala Stadium in collaboration with the Smart City project. The road behind the stadium will be utilized for this purpose.

The decision was made during a recent meeting chaired by deputy commissioner (DC) Mullai Muhilan. The revenue generated from the Smart Food Street will be used for the development of the stadium.

DC Muhilan directed that the road behind the stadium be used for the Smart Food Street to prevent inconvenience to people arriving at the stadium and to avoid traffic congestion, which is common in the area.

Mayor Sudhir Shetty Kannur explained, “Street vending involves either selling goods by sitting by the roadside, using movable trolleys, or carrying goods on one’s head. For this purpose, 10 areas in the city will be identified, and action will be taken after inspection. The plan is to establish a Food Street on the road behind Mangala Stadium, funded by the Smart City grant.”

Pradeep D’Souza, deputy director of the youth empowerment and sports department, Mangaluru, added, “A plan is in place to establish a Smart Food Street near Mangala Stadium in cooperation with the Smart City project. This initiative will generate revenue for the stadium. Initial work is in progress as directed by DC Muhilan. Emphasis is being placed on cleanliness and hygiene. Additionally, underground drainage and washroom facilities will be provided alongside the food street.”

Another day, Another Scam in the name of development. Presumably - they will auction these slots to ppl staying outiside Mangalore - May be mumbai and abroad. Those ppl will sublet these slots on rental basis to actual vendors who will be selling food. Seen this during Dassera when they did the same for Matka Soda Seller during the festival. The video of Unhygienic way they were cleaning matkas became so viral. MCC is full of Thieves and they do not allow any business to thrive in mangalore.
