Kundapur, Aug 31: MLA for Kundapur constituency A Kiran Kumar Kodgi has called for collective effort to meet the party's ambitious membership targets, urging local leaders and activists to unite for a successful registration drive. With a national goal of 100 million members and a state target of 15 million, the BJP is intensifying its efforts across Karnataka.
The ongoing membership registration and renewal campaign is being actively pursued, with a focus on reaching record numbers. Former MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty, who served for 24 years, has been instrumental in the success of past initiatives, contributing to effective party organisation in Kundapur. Kodgi emphasised the importance of surpassing previous records and achieving the set targets.
At a preparatory meeting held at the BJP office in Kundapura Mandal, the membership registration manual was unveiled. Raghavendra Kunder, district head of the membership drive, outlined that BJP membership requires renewal every five years. The process involves two stages: general and active membership, which are crucial for expanding the party’s reach.
The membership drive, named the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Campaign, will run from September 2 to September 25. A major campaign from September 11 to 17 will celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, with a target of registering 300 members per booth.
Kundapur Mandal aims to enroll 66,600 members across its 222 booths. Additionally, a second phase of the drive will occur from October 1 to 15, with registration through missed calls. A link sent after a missed call will open an application form for member registration.
Suresh Shetty Gopadi, Mandal president, highlighted that this is the third nationwide membership campaign and stressed the need to exceed the previous registration numbers through Kundapur’s 52 power centers.
The event also featured honours for newly elected Kundapur city municipality president Mohandas Shenoi, vice-president Vanita S Billava, Saligrama town panchayat president Sukanya Shetty, and vice-president Girija Poojari.
Mandal general secretary Sudhir K S welcomed the attendees, while general secretary Satish Poojari managed the event. Sadanand Balkur delivered the vote of thanks.
