Mangaluru: The Institute of Konkani at St Aloysius to launch ‘Bolkamv’ literature series on Sep 7

Media Release

Mangaluru, Sep 4: The Institute of Konkani at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) has been a dedicated promoter of the Konkani language and literature since its inception.

As one of the oldest Konkani institutions, having completed 44 years of service, the Institute of Konkani is proud to announce the launch of a unique literary program series titled 'Bolkamv' (Balcony), to be held on the Institute's premises.

The 'Bolkamv' series aims to promote literature by providing a small stage with sound, lighting, and seating arrangements for an intimate audience of 40 to 50 literary enthusiasts, including students, faculty, and writers.

The programme will feature a one-hour session where a senior or emerging storyteller, poet, novelist, or dramatist will read excerpts from their work and engage in a discussion with the attendees.

The inaugural event will take place on Saturday, September 7, at 10 am, and will be launched by the chancellor of St Aloysius Deemed to be University, Dr Fr Praveen Martis SJ.

The event will feature Melwyn Pinto Neerude, a leading contemporary Konkani storyteller, who will read excerpts from his short stories and lead a discussion on the art of short story writing. A dialogue with scholars will follow this presentation.

The Bolkamv Literature Series is an open platform for those who have contributed to various genres of literature, including poetry, short stories, novels, translation, and drama, to present their work and share their experiences with the literary community.
