Media Release

Davanagere, Sep 4: Sixth day’s Novena at Our Lady of Health, Minor Basilica, Diocese of Shimoga, began with rosary, procession and floral homages to Harihara Matha. Then Basilica rector & parish priest Fr George K A led the Novena.

Fr Tony MSFS, assistant director of finance, St John's National Academy of sciences, Bengaluru, offered Holy Eucharist. He preached his homily on the theme: ‘Mother Mary is the refuge of Religious Sisters’.

In his homily, he explained that difficulties are part and parcel of life. "But we need to face them with the grace of God courageously. Blessed Virgin Mary is the perfect example for us how she faced the difficulties which she faced in her life. She never complained about them. But gracefully accepted them as the gift of God and obeyed the will of God. Even in our lives she always remains as an example to face and overcome difficulties in our lives too," he said.

Fr Lawrence D'Souza, Fr Richard Mascarenhas SJ, Fr Eric Mathias SJ, Fr Mathew CMF, and Fr Alphonse Lobo concelebrated the Holy Eucharist.

After the mass, Fr Lawrence D'Souza led the benediction and priests prayed over the pilgrims.

Rector of the Minor Basilica Fr George K A thanked Fr Tony MSFS.
