Udupi: Woman suffering from mental distress rescued

Udupi, Sep 5: A woman in a state of mental distress was rescued after leaving her home and seeking refuge in public in Bannanje, Udupi.

Late at night, a young woman was found lying by the roadside on the main road in Bannanje. Vishu Shetty, upon receiving this information, sought help from female police officers, who quickly arrived to assist in rescuing her and transporting her to the Sakhi Center for further care.

The woman, identified as Lakshmi (25) from Raichur, disclosed during the rescue that she had fled her village due to domestic violence and was childless after marriage.

Shreekanth Shetty from Karkala, who noticed the vulnerable woman by the roadside, took swift action to prevent any harm by alerting Vishu Shetty. Both Vishu Shetty and the police remained on-site until the rescue was complete. H C Mallika also played a key role in the operation.

Anyone with information about the woman’s relatives is urged to contact the Udupi Women's Police Station or the Sakhi Center.
