Mangaluru, Sep 10: Chief minister (CM) Siddaramaiah praised the presence of mind and courage of Vaibhavi, a seventh grader, who rushed to rescue her mother after she fell beneath an auto-rickshaw that had hit her while crossing the road. Vaibhavi promptly got her mother admitted to the hospital in time, saving her life.

Chethana, Vaibhavi’s mother, was hit by an auto-rickshaw while crossing the road near Vaibhavi’s tuition center. The accident occurred right in front of Vaibhavi as she was leaving the center. She immediately ran to the scene, lifted the auto-rickshaw, and saved her mother. Chethana is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Suratkal, suffering from a spinal cord injury. The family is also facing financial difficulties.

CM Siddaramaiah tweeted, “The girl did not panic after seeing her own mother trapped under the auto-rickshaw. Instead, she ran to her rescue, lifted the vehicle, and saved her mother’s life. This is truly commendable."

He added, “I have often seen on social media that the public records videos of accidents instead of helping the victims, which causes concern for the future. However, this young girl’s bravery and quick thinking sends a powerful message to society. Every second is crucial for accident victims, whether in cases of accidents, fires, or cardiac arrest. Let us not forget our humanity in those moments.”
