London, Nov 20 (IANS): Actress Meryl Streep was so keen to make a film on former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher that she slashed her fee and donated the rest to charity.
The Hollywood veteran plays Thatcher in new film "The Iron Lady", which tells the story of Thatcher's rise to power and her role as the country's first female leader.
The grapevine is abuzz with news that Streep didn't make any money from the movie as she cut her usual salary to 625,000 pounds to make sure the project could go ahead and then donated the fee to a good cause, reports dailystar.co.uk.
The publication reports Streep used the money to help fund America's National Women's History Museum.
