Mangaluru, Sep 11: An FIR has been registered against the administrators of the 'Fact Vid' Facebook page for allegedly posting offensive and obscene images of Hindu deities created using AI (Artificial Intelligence). The complaint, filed by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and a group of pro-Hindu advocates, alleges that the page has been regularly sharing AI-generated images that insult Hindu deities, causing distress to millions of Hindus.
According to Vijay Kumar, Dakshina Kannada district coordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, the offensive posts, which have been appearing for several days, feature deities like Lord Shiva, Krishna, Rama, and Ganesha depicted in inappropriate and obscene situations. The complainants claim that these images have deeply hurt religious sentiments and are part of a larger conspiracy to provoke the Hindu community. They have urged the authorities to take immediate action against the administrators of the page.
The complaint was lodged on September 10 with the Cyber Crime division in Mangaluru. Advocate Teerthesh, representing the complainants, has called for legal action under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 299, 192, 353, and Section 67 of the IT Act. He has also demanded that AI tools enabling such content be regulated.
The complainants, including advocates Ishwar Kottari, Yatheesh, Sushma, and businessmen Dinesh M P, Chandrakant Kamath, Prashanth Kanchan, Balagangadhar, and Narayan Amin, were present during the filing of the complaint. Inspector Bharati of Urwa police station, who accepted the complaint, assured them that prompt action would be taken.
