Mangaluru, Sep 12: The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) administration has strictly warned the driver of a waste-transporting vehicle who was found transporting a live dog.
Responding to queries from media, mayor Sudhir Kumar Shetty Kannur said, “Animal lovers raised objections after a video surfaced showing a domestic dog being loaded into a waste-collecting vehicle. A resident of Dongarakeri had asked the civic workers to take the dog away, as it was causing a nuisance. The incident came to the MCC's attention on Tuesday, and the driver was subsequently called in and warned not to repeat the act in the future.”
“The owner of the dog in question lives abroad, and the current occupants of the house asked the civic workers to relocate the dog as it was causing trouble to the neighbours. As a result, the civic workers took the dog in the vehicle. This was the first time the MCC vehicle driver faced such a situation. All MCC vehicle drivers have now been instructed not to engage in such actions in the future,” he added.
