Udupi: Fire eater dies in accident during Ganesha procession

Udupi, Sep 12: A tragic incident occurred in Thottam during the Ganesha immersion procession, where a fire eater who was performing by spitting flames after putting kerosene in his mouth fell seriously ill and later died.

The deceased, identified as 39-year-old Satish from Malpe, worked as a fisherman. On the night of September 9, during Thottam's Ganesha immersion procession, he performed his act of spitting fire using kerosene.

Reports suggest that Satish accidentally ingested kerosene, leading to severe illness. He was admitted to Udupi District Government Hospital on September 10, but despite treatment, he passed away in the early hours of September 12. A case has been registered at the Malpe police station.
