Doha: Maiden Teachers' Day celebration by Karnataka Sangha Qatar

Doha, Sep 12: Karnataka Sangha Qatar as part of its social responsibility celebrated “Teachers Day” to commemorate the birth anniversary of the first vice president and second president of India, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Who is also known to be a distinguished scholar and a teacher. The event was held at Vibrant Industrial Safety Center, Doha, Qatar. Felicitation of 25 member teachers teaching different disciplines in various international schools of Qatar at the maiden Teachers Day Celebrations was a pleasant coincidence during the 25th year of Sangha’s establishment. Along with academic teachers, Kannada teachers who voluntarily conduct weekend language classes organized by Karnataka Sangha were also felicitated.

The chief guest of the event was the president of the Indian Cultural Center Manikantan A P, guest of honour was the principal of Brilliant Indian International School, Asha Shiju. Vice president of Indian Cultural Center Subramanya Hebbagelu, advisory board chairman Mahesh Gowda, advisory board members Mannangi, Arun, Deepak Shetty, Madhu and Dr Sanjay Kudri along with president of other Karnataka based associations, reputed teachers from various international schools across Qatar and members of Karnataka Sangha graced the event.

The Teachers Day celebration was officially inaugurated with the “Lighting of Lamp” by dignitaries. The tone for the whole event was set by the children of Karnataka sangha performing the Guru Vandana song, which was excellently directed by Anil Bhasagi and Sushma Harish.

President Ravi Shetty, in his welcome address to the gathering, narrated a Sanskrit quote about the importance of teachers in everybody’s life and dedicated it to all the teachers. Chief guest of the event Manikantan thanked Karnataka Sangha Qatar for joining hands with Indian Cultural Center in the cultural events and also congratulated all the teachers present in the event. Guest of honour Asha Shiju, in her address, highlighted her lifetime experiences of being a teacher and how the experiences helped her to be a better teacher.

As a part of the contribution to the literature club of Indian Cultural Center, Karnataka Sangha president and management committee members handed over the collection of Kannada books to Indian Cultural Center president Manikantan and vice president Subramanya Hebbagelu.

Karnataka Sangha Qatar also held a farewell event for Sanjana Jeevan, management committee member 2022-2023 as she was leaving Qatar and returning to India for good.

MC of the event was Bhuvana Suraj, and vote of thanks for the event was delivered by Bhavana Naveen. All the MC members and volunteers along with the president worked hard towards the success of the event.
