London, Nov 22 (IANS): Pop star Lady Gaga is to be honoured with the hero award from NGO Trevor Project for her efforts to encourage youths.
The 25-year-old will be recognised for encouraging youth empowerment through her Born This Way Foundation at the annual Trevor Live event Dec 4 at the Hollywood Palladium.
"Our young people are at the centre of a health crisis, and vocal leaders like Lady Gaga... have stepped up to help change our culture," contactmusic.com quoted Trevor Project CEO David MCFarland as saying.
"Our honourees are working with the Trevor Project to make a better today and a brighter tomorrow for youth. We are proud to honour Lady Gaga with the Trevor Hero Award for (her) work to help young people express their true selves with pride," he added.
Singers Mary J. Blige, Miley Cyrus, Fergie and "Glee" actors Chris Colfer and Darren Criss will attend the event.
