St Agnes School (CBSE) joins hands in 237-kilometer human chain, celebrates democracy

Mangaluru, Sep 18: St Agnes School (CBSE) recently participated in the grand celebration of the International Day of Democracy on September 15. Led by principal Sr Maria Sarika AC, 51 students and the entire staff joined thousands of participants from various schools and organizations in an event organized by the government of India. Together, they formed an extraordinary 237-kilometer human chain extending from Shiroor in Udupi district to Sampaje in Dakshina Kannada. The event, which commenced at 9:30 AM, was brought to life by vibrant cultural performances from local art troupes, adding to the festive spirit.

Prominent dignitaries, including MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, MLC Manjunath Bhandary, Mangaluru Mayor Sudheer Shetty Kannur, and deputy commissioner (DC) Mullai Muhilan, were in attendance. The celebration also featured an oath-taking ceremony and the recitation of the Preamble, highlighting the core values of democracy.

The district administration ensured seamless execution with well-coordinated efforts led by committees under the additional DC and tahsildars. This remarkable event not only celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the region but also promoted a deeper understanding of the importance of democracy. The large turnout and captivating cultural presentations made it a truly memorable occasion.
